We know that fees and gear can add up quickly! We do have limited need-based scholarship funds, available as our budget allows.

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL: (going into 6th-8th grade): $75 WyoX team fee, $90 Colorado High School Cycling League fee

  • HIGH SCHOOL: (going into 9th-12th grade): $125 WyoX team fee, $180 Colorado High School Cycling League Fee

  • RACE: High school students who choose to participate in Colorado League races will be responsible for the $80 fee per race (4-5 races per season). Racers will also need to purchase a Team WyoX Jersey, approximately $65. Official jerseys are required by the league. Middle school students may also purchase a jersey to wear at practice if they wish.

  • SCHOLARSHIPS: Colorado League offers scholarships for both registration and race fees for all participating students in need.

  • The primary focus of WyoX is to develop strong minds, strong bodies and strong characters by engaging students in the challenging and exciting world of mountain biking. Being part of the team is an exceptional way for middle school and high school students to explore the sport. League racers go on to participate in collegiate, national and international cycling competitions. Several League alumni athletes have received college scholarships for mountain biking and are now racing on professional teams, are employed in the cycling industry and have become community leaders.

    • The team is a city-wide, composite team of riders, 6 th - 12th grade, coed. Middle school students, 6th – 8 th grade, can practice with the team. Students must be in 9 th – 12th grade to compete in the races.

    • Two levels are offered: recreational (non-traveling) and competitive (traveling).

    • The purpose of the team is to improve cycling skills, become independent, resourceful, respectful athletes and to appreciate and care for outdoor spaces.

    • The team is a "club sport", with no funding from the public schools. Costs of participation and races are provided by the riders and parents with help from the team through fundraising. Scholarships are available.

    • Season is roughly July - October.

    • Practices are held before school starts on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Curt Gowdy State Park and Tie City Recreation Area. After school starts, practices are held at North Cheyenne Community Park. During the season, practices are held at numerous venues on Saturdays.

    • All participants are required to be registered with the Colorado High School Cycling League. The registration provides insurance for the riders. The cost for middle school students is $90 and the cost for high school students is $180.

    • Team fees are also required. Fees are $75 for middle school students and $125 for high school students. Fees cover 2-4 coached practices per week and coach/team support at races.

    • A mechanically safe bike, helmet and proper clothing are required and is the responsibility of the rider. These items can be provided, if needed.

    • Scholarships are available to help defray the costs of participating with the team.

    • COMPETITIVE (TRAVELING) TEAM

      • The competitive team attends races held in Colorado on Saturdays or Sundays. Race fees are $80 per race or $280 for the series race pass (4 races). Members of the competitive team should plan an additional $150-$200 per race (lodging, food, travel, race fees). Some costs will be defrayed through team fees and fundraising. Scholarships are available. Coaches and ride leaders are voluntary, unpaid positions. Parents are expected to contribute to the team in some manner (transportation, food, fundraising, etc.). * For rider safety, members of the competitive team must satisfy minimum bike handling skills and endurance standards.
